Dr. Tommy G. Sullivan received his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of Kansas after which he spent one year as an intern at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma which is a branch of the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. His next three years were spent on active duty as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service. He then returned to Kansas City and the University of Kansas School of Medicine to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, which included a one year fellowship in gynecologic surgery, remaining on the faculty for one year following his residency before spending the next 23 years in private practice with Kansas City Women’s Clinic. Dr. Sullivan became board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1981. He returned to academic medicine in July, 2002 at the University of Kansas Medical Center and later to Truman Medical Center and the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine to continue his involvement in academic medicine being active in both resident and student education. He is currently an Associate Professor and the Administrative Vice Chairman of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been consistently named one of Kansas City’s Best Obstetricians and Gynecologists by the Kansas City Business Journal. His primary focus throughout his career has been on quality patient care in all aspects and he maintains an active private practice in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and plans to continue this into the indefinite future.
