Dr. James W. Bogener, M.D.

Dr. Bogener, fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle surgery and board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, joined University Health Orthopaedics in February of 2014. He completed the combined six year BA/MD program at UMKC’s School of Medicine in 2005, and then chose to complete his residency at the UMKC program, finishing in 2010. He then did a fellowship with internationally known foot and ankle surgeon James Brodsky, M.D. at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX, finishing in 2011. Dr. Bogener established a private practice in Salina, KS and was a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Kansas Medical Center before coming to University Orthopaedics.  His clinical interests include foot and ankle sports medicine, ankle arthroscopy and instability, advanced bunion and hammertoe correction, and total ankle replacement, and he has co-authored work on the anatomy of the ankle. He serves as an associate program director for the orthopaedic surgery residency, and is interested in medical education, becoming the first director of the orthopaedic surgical skills laboratory at UMKC.
